NỔ CÁI BÙM 2024: TẬP THỂ (DỤC)
COLLECTIVITY-IN-(ACT)ION

Nổ Cái Bùm (NCB) is a travelling contemporary art festival initiated in 2020 in Huế. With an open-minded spirit and the urge to create a platform for independent contemporary art practitioners in Vietnam, each Nổ Cái Bùm festival is organized by one or more groups of artists volunteering in a different province/city, outside of the 2 largest cities in Vietnam: Hanoi and Ho-Chi-Minh. Therefore, each edition of Nổ Cái Bùm will have its own personality and identity, depending on the host artist(s).

Nổ Cái Bùm 2024: Tập thể (dục) / Collectivity-in-(act)ion is co-organised by A Sông and MORUA in Đà Nẵng & Hội An, with support from of the Goethe Institute Ho Chi Minh City, Dogma Collection, Nguyen Art Foundation, Lèm Dì Dị, Symbioses, crowdfunding contributors, and many artists/collectives and local partners.

NCB 2024, centered on the theme of collective practices in Vietnamese contemporary art, featured the contributions of over 100 art collectives, curators, and artists from Vietnam and international participants from countries such as Vietnam, Switzerland, Germany, and the United States. Notably, the event successfully brought together a diverse range of Vietnamese ethnic artists, including Kinh, Chăm, and Mường art practitioners. This festival attracted more than 5,000 visitors nationwide, marking a significant milestone for a local art festival in Vietnam. It underscored the collective effort of Vietnamese artists and the broader art community in fostering and advancing the country’s cultural landscape.
