Tô Đậm #7 x A Sông
Long Mu kindergarten school is situated on a mountain in Trà Nam commune, Nam Trà My district, Quảng Nam province, an area inhabited by the Xê Đăng ethnic group. The route to the school is notably arduous, as it traverses remote and difficult terrain. The children face substantial challenges in accessing education, often having to walk long distances from other villages and mountains to reach kindergarten. Consequently, it is customary for one parent from each family to volunteer to accompany the children from Monday to Friday, remaining at the school to oversee their care, assist with cooking, and provide additional support.
As cultural practitioners, we hold deep admiration for the children's commitment to education and the parents' dedication to enhancing educational values, demonstrated by their willingness to forgo their work at home to support the children. This initiative is jointly organized by Tô Đậm and A Sông. Over the course of the project, spanning from January 2023 to May 2024, we have undertaken five field expeditions and three cultural exchange programs aimed at mutual learning and cultural sharing. These activities included an artist residency program, an animation screening for the children, and a school painting event, which also served as the culminating event of the year-long project.
